What it is
Sports massage helps prevent athletic injury, keeps the body flexible and assists the recovery process. It is applied to athletes to help them train, perform pain free and stay uninjured. In practice it is a combination of gliding strokes, pressure points, stretching, hydrotherapy and cryotherapy, chosen for the demands of a particular sport.
A marathon build and a jiu-jitsu camp break down in different places. The session is planned around what your sport actually loads and where you are in the season — race week and off-season are not the same treatment.

What it helps
- Pre-event preparation and post-event recovery
- Tight hamstrings, calves, hip flexors and IT band complaints
- Shoulders and elbows under repetitive load
- Returning to training after a layoff
- Plantar fasciitis and foot pain in runners
What is included
- A conversation about your sport, your week and your next event
- Work chosen for the tissue your sport loads hardest
- Assisted stretching and range-of-motion work
- Advice on timing — how close to competition this kind of work belongs
- A recovery plan for the days after
The session
How a sports therapy appointment runs
Where are you in the season?
Pre-event, mid-block and off-season sessions look different. We start there.
Load-specific assessment
We look at what your sport repeats thousands of times, because that is where it usually breaks.
Treat and mobilize
Targeted soft-tissue work with assisted stretching so range comes back with the release.
Plan the week
You leave knowing what to train, what to leave alone and when to come back.

“Shawn is amazing. He's been helping me with my posture. A blessing from GOD. Only drawback because he's so good is lack of appointments besides the monthly one :(”
Questions
Sports Therapy: the questions people ask
When should I book relative to a race?
Deep work belongs at least 3–5 days out. In the last 48 hours before a race, a lighter flushing session is the safer choice. Tell me the date when you book and we will pick the right one.
I am not a competitive athlete. Is this still for me?
Yes. Most of the people who book sports therapy here train recreationally — running, lifting, tennis, golf, pickleball. The label is about the approach, not your finishing time.
Can it help plantar fasciitis?
It is one of the complaints Shawn works with most. Treatment usually involves the whole chain — foot, calf and hip — rather than the heel alone, plus a home protocol between sessions.
Do I need to bring kit?
Athletic gear is ideal. Much of this work is done fully clothed, and being able to move through range makes the session more useful.
Should I train after a session?
Light movement is fine and usually helps. Save a heavy or maximal session for the following day.
Do you work with post-surgical athletes?
Yes, once you are cleared by your surgeon or physical therapist — that clearance comes first. Orthopedic massage is often the better starting point.
